Follow code changes in a team channel
Pull requests waiting for review slow everyone down. Posting them where the team talks gets reviews done sooner and keeps others aware of what's shipping.

What happens
When
A pull request is opened, reviewed or merged, or an issue is created on GitHub.
Then
- A message is posted to the subscribed Slack channel.
- People can open the pull request or issue straight from the message.
How the tools connect
With a built-in integration. Slack lists GitHub as an integration on its website.
Set it up
Add the GitHub app to your Slack workspace.
In the team's channel, subscribe to the repository.
Choose which events to post, such as pull requests and releases.
Menus change, so these steps say what to do rather than where to click. Each company's help pages have the current screens.
Watch out for
- Busy repositories can flood a channel. Start with pull requests only.

Tell the team the moment your site goes down
Finding out about downtime from customers is the worst way. An alert in the channel the team already watches gets someone looking within minutes.
Operations · Easy · Built-in integration
Turn chat requests into tracked tasks
Requests made in chat get lost once the conversation scrolls away. Creating a task from the message keeps a link to it, with an owner and a due date.
Hiring · Easy · Built-in integration
Tell the hiring team about new candidates
Applicants left waiting for days often take another offer. Posting new candidates where the hiring team talks speeds up first reviews.
