What happens
When
Stripe takes a payment or pays out to your bank.
Then
- The transactions and Stripe's fees appear in Xero.
- You reconcile them against invoices and the bank payout.
How the tools connect
With a built-in integration. Xero lists Stripe as an integration on its website.
Set it up
Connect Stripe from Xero's app list.
Choose the date to start importing from, usually the start of your current financial period.
Reconcile one week of transactions to check that fees and payouts match your bank.
Menus change, so these steps say what to do rather than where to click. Each company's help pages have the current screens.
Watch out for
- Ask your accountant how they want fees and refunds recorded before you import a lot of history.

Invoices and documents that arrive by email get lost in personal inboxes. Saving attachments to a shared folder automatically keeps them where the team can find them.
